I am a 6th year history graduate student here in the Yale history department working with Steven Pincus and Stuart Schwartz.  My dissertation, tentatively titled “Making an English Caribbean, 1650-1700”, explores the relationship between England and Spain in both Europe and the Caribbean from 1650-1700.  I argue that the development of the early British Empire was shaped by competing visions of England’s imperial future in both the metropole and periphery.

I have received research funding from the Yale University Macmillan Center, the Smith Richardson Foundation, the Tinker Foundation, the Harvard Atlantic History Seminar, and the Huntington Library.

My interests include the history of early modern Europe, the Atlantic world, and diplomatic, imperial, and colonial history.  I have been a teaching fellow for European History, 1648-1945, the History of the Reformation, and the history of Old Regime and Revolutionary France.
