Alison Collis Greene

A native of Bakersville, North Carolina, Alison Collis Greene graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001 with  a B.A. in  Religious Studies and Anthropology. Her broad research interests include American religious history, twentieth-century American history, Southern history, and African-American history. Alison's dissertation, "No Depression in Heaven: Religion in Memphis and the Delta, 1929-1941" traces the theological reorientation among laypeople and clergy, the corresponding changes  in the relationship between belief and political or social action, and the broader reorganization of American religious bodies between 1929 and 1941.
