Michael Blaakman
I study the political and cultural history of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century America. In my first year at Yale, I plan to indulge specific interests in urban history, material culture, and questions surrounding the writing of history.
Originally from Rochester, New York, I graduated in 2009 from the College of William and Mary with a B.A. in History. From 2009 to 2010, a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship brought me to a university in Košice, Slovakia, where I taught English language and American Studies.
